Lying for a Purpose

Posted on 11/10/202410/10/2024 by Daniel

I have often wondered why people lie. I am told it is because it works, it hides embarrassment, it comes with an agenda, all of which means we gain something and that something is positive for us. I have thought about this this past ear because clicking through the news outlets I am struck continually, by what some journalists choose to miss out and what others choose to report upon. And how tribal that is. Looking at the names one is struck by how journalists, trained to be objective, are not in favour of their given tribe. A fact that crosses borders.

And if we leave international politics which is filled with liars, even in everyday life the same rules apply. People hide from other people every second of their day. The antagonisms of politics I can verify, but the need to lie to those one lives with and loves? Lying is a worldwide ageless pandemic.
