So You Think You Can Dance?

Posted on 27/05/2024 by Daniel

I watched this for several years on youtube, so obviously never saw an entire programme from beginning to end. It was (and is) an enjoyable diversion of movement and music, often to moments of perfection given by young people most of whom are Americans.

Humanity has always loved to dance but these movements have changed as beat and nuance in the music has changed. Today for a few moments a dancer can be still and just move their fingers. Dress has become integral to the flow of the body and the visual experience and while the mystical element has gone and no one is calling on the gods there is still deep emotion and a feeling that one wants to dance on that stage with that person and be a part of something special.
