The new government here in the UK has just created the worst first week in office in living memory. The man and woman in charge of this huge upset to people’s lives are both educated to degree and PhD level so it isn’t lack of intelligence. The Chancellor’s economic qualification was a thesis on the recoinage of 1796. This dealt with the problem of silver money losing its weight from clipping, and didn’t work. This is not economics that would be useful in today’s world but I assume his conclusions were valuable – since we did another recoinage in 1815 after the expense of the Napoleonic Wars.
I guess we are assuming knowledge of those wars will assist us with Russia today.
In a way it all does but in a more significant and telling way, it couldn’t possibly be relevant.
What happened this past week or so, is the misguided dogma of two people who lead a party of the rich and want-to-be-rich. And nowhere have they factored in the death of our planet all around us because of this agenda.
