So Much News

Posted on 02/02/2010 by admin

I sometimes wonder whether it is all news or if we spend a lot of time looking at our navels. Of all the things to bring to the attention of the public a lot of news is going over things the public already know and telling us when someone has died. The news and death have a symbiotic relationship. It is all to do with importance.

Strangely what people consider important is pretty universal through a single culture I guess because importance flows naturally from what we are taught as children. So today we hear the Pope is afraid of the Equality Bill being proposed because he does not want to have to employ homosexuals. The rest of us would be more afraid of not having an Equality Bill because it might make us all more Catholic. I wonder if this news is big in America or if the upcoming Super-Bowl would get more air time.

And I wonder what is considered news in Rio or  Abuja. Sometimes it isn’t news at all just an affirmation that we are what we are.
