Recognizing Trees

Posted on 03/05/202403/05/2024 by Daniel

I am not as good at this as I thought I was. I thought I was able to name the most obvious deciduous trees but on my walk today I found out that the huge and ancient oak tree I have often seen in winter is budding as a beech tree. I also was not sure if I was looking at a hazel tree along the border to a field as it was bigger than I have seen in the past.

So I decided to get with the regime and downloaded the woodland trust app for tree and hedgerow plant identification. Even if I am sure it will be fun to take images of all the specimen trees I find and double check and you never know I might learn something.

Well actually we are sure I will learn something.
