I read in the 1980s about a French singer who had a wonderful, evocative voice who was not well known. The reason being her voice sounded very much like Edith Piaf and, of course, France already had Edith Piaf they didn’t need another. Or rather the record studios and those who owned Edith’s rights didn’t want someone alive who sounded like her taking away the spotlight. On the talent shows down the years I have seen and heard amazing talents who vanish or don’t get recognition to any great level.\u00a0 There are many reasons of character that feed into this lack of recognition but one thing must be stressed: everyone who is famous has been chosen and all of them sit atop other equal talents.<\/p>\n
And talent alone is not always why they are chosen.<\/p>\n
