On the day, the comments or events are given a weight by the reporters &#8211; most notably here the D Day celebrations &#8211; and made small or big immediately. There is no percolation of the events into the general public and then a report on what they think. The reporters make the decision &#8216;oh this was big&#8217; and that is repeated by the public for days.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the same thing as debates, or asking people how they will vote, also based on months if not years of reporting- but a decision taken by news desks.
