My friend and I both gave up celebrating birthdays years ago as we both think health is more important than numbers and counting down the ages forces one into the absurd ‘where am I as opposed to where I should be’ conversation we have with ourselves because every age is supposed to be planned out for the sake of society.<\/p>\n
I think of this as the neighbours are giving their daughter a birthday party with entertainer in their grounds, with balloons out and lots of noise. I think she is eight. I hope the world is kind to her.<\/p>\n
