Art<\/p>\n
This is a life,
\nWhere poet, writer, painter,
\nHeat their hands from flames
\nBurning from the brain\u2019s fire –
\nEarth\u2019s very sky is held still
\nAs they turn sea to words –
\nRock to paint –
\nWine and beer wash throats
\nWith song and conversation –
\nIn a bodily exchange for art –
\nWhere to belong you climb a broken ladder
\nAnd give to words, paint, music, dance
\nA fire-washed agonised-pure soul –
\nCreation banged out of marble
\nPoems burning from a special womb –
\nCovering every last thought
\nWith chalk-white burnt-out dust –
\nUntil a huge soft pile smothers you
\nInto a deep and grateful sleep –<\/p>\n
