Come, my Lucasia, since we see
\nThat Miracles Mens faith do move,
\nBy wonder and by prodigy
\nTo the dull angry world let’s prove
\nThere’s a Religion in our Love.<\/p>\n
For though we were design’d t’ agree,
\nThat Fate no liberty destroyes,
\nBut our Election is as free
\nAs Angels, who with greedy choice
\nAre yet determin’d to their joyes.<\/p>\n
Our hearts are doubled by the loss,
\nHere Mixture is Addition grown ;
\nWe both diffuse, and both ingross :
\nAnd we whose minds are so much one,
\nNever, yet ever are alone.<\/p>\n
We court our own Captivity
\nThan Thrones more great and innocent :
\n‘Twere banishment to be set free,
\nSince we wear fetters whose intent
\nNot Bondage is, but Ornament.<\/p>\n
Divided joyes are tedious found,
\nAnd griefs united easier grow :
\nWe are our selves but by rebound,
\nAnd all our Titles shuffled so,
\nBoth Princes, and both Subjects too.<\/p>\n
Our Hearts are mutual Victims laid,
\nWhile they (such power in Friendship lies)
\nAre Altars, Priests, and Off’rings made :
\nAnd each Heart which thus kindly dies,
