It was not<br \/>\ndifficult. We went, set explosives<br \/>\nhere and there at the Lustgarten.<br \/>\nA match. Up it went. For a night,<br \/>\nFlames danced with our resistance.<br \/>\nSo little, but we had to do something.<br \/>\nthey hunted us. Retaliation everywhere.<br \/>\nThen the Sondergericht\u2014\u2018special court.\u2019<br \/>\nThey carried me there, my shattered legs<br \/>\ndangling. No one talked. A hundred<br \/>\nBerliners rounded up for each of us.<br \/>\nFive hundred\u2014most shot there and then;<br \/>\nthe rest, slower deaths at Sachsenhausen.<br \/>\nThis, too, our burden, but . . . would they<br \/>\nhave died anyway?
