When income tax was introduced during the Napoleonic wars there was a huge outcry. Now the most ridiculous taxes are levied and no one says a thing. Inheritance tax in the UK stars at £325,000. Most people who find they fall into this tax bracket did nothing but buy their home and it rose in price over 40 years. And while this low threshold is levied the governments make the proclamation that they don’t double-tax. But since everyone has paid their taxes all their lives what else is inheritance tax but a double tax?
In the US the threshold is $12million. Loathe it as I do that is a people who know how to do capitalism and encourage growth.
