I am reading the much to be respected Douglas Murray’s new book ‘On Democracies and Death Cults: Israel and the Future of Civilization’. His writing style reminds me of Upton Sinclair who charted the rise and fall of fascism in Europe from just before 1914 to 1956, though Sinclair couched his observations in fiction. I am also reminded of Christopher Isherwood’s brilliant title ‘I Am a Camera’ because that is what Douglas Murray is as all good journalists should be. The terrible thing about modern journalism is their shutter speed, tied as it is to the news cycles of their employers, is far to fast. Putting out sentences that actually describe the entirety of the situation is left to later documentaries which most viewers never watch.
Douglas Murray’s book, elucidating what he has been saying from day 1 of the war in Gaza, is testimony to his clarity of observation.
