Games

Posted on 01/12/2024 by Daniel

International politics is a little like a chess game. You have opposing interest around the world and each country makes moves to thwart, mitigate or alter those interests that militate against your own. Treaties are a win. Co-operation a way to bring opposing countries alongside. Sometimes one has to take a country out of its sphere though loans or military aid thereby making them dependent upon you. In this game people are pawns, soldiers are pawns, companies are pawns and knights enable you to jump over your opponents and put yourself in a better position.

Winning is more complex than chess though. The game never ends. Past moves are never forgotten or forgiven. And as we are all cousins, ironically we are playing against ourselves all the time.
