How old are we?

Posted on 05/09/2024 by Daniel

It is a strange fallacy we have that we think nation and nationhood is only about 5,000 years old, maybe 10,000 if we take it as starting with farming. The reason I find it strange is that nationhood is an idea and as an idea it doesn’t get stronger just because the population increases. if a family are wandering the plains and talking with each other and asking questions they have the beginnings of a nations and as soon as they settle down to a standard way if migrating to and from the same places, they basically have a nation.

Nations are not roads or borders but a settled way of doing things.
