Olympics

Posted on 03/08/2024 by Daniel

When the host countries get the Olympics they usually do much better in the medals table as they invest heavily in their athletes for the years running up to the event. It does seem that it is money and the opportunity and training it provides that makes the most of natural ability. How else to explain that India with one of the largest populations in the world is not at the top of the medals table and France, hosting this year, is presently second.

But it isn’t only money. Arabia has more wealth than France yet they are poor every Olympics in medals. China, even when poor, still got into the top ten and now it is rich it has taken over from Russia as number one.

It makes one wonder why there isn’t a village where every athlete from every country trains, just to make sure money doesn’t win every time.
