Deep Sea

Posted on 08/04/2024 by Daniel

I was fascinated by the images that came back from the deep sea explorations and seeing the sea creatures that could light their own way and those that used hooks to capture their prey like a living fishing rod. I say sea creatures because saying fish is like saying land animal – it is not at all specific and such a generalisation as to be meaningless. Though we all kind of know what it means.

There are worms that live in the deep that have almost hollow bodies so they withstand the immense pressure around them. If that pressure is removed they collapse and die – and we all know the idiot who found that out. Sometimes we think find out knowledge allows us to kill.

Most interestingly are the creatures that can live in hostile environments around sulphur rich basins which goes to prove life is tenacious and continuous. And makes me wonder if brain power really is the apex of the food chain.
