Humanity Versus History

Posted on 13/03/2024 by Daniel

To show humanity is usually described as being empathetic and caring. Given the history of the human race that has to be one of the most ironic if not outright hypocritical definitions in the dictionary.

But the act of caring for suffering is exhibited in many people but I have noted on talking about Gaza how it is completely devoid of historical narrative. All suffering has a historical narrative. In Gaza right now people are dying because a hot war was brought to Israel’s doorstep by Iranian religious bigots, Hamas operatives pretending to be freedom fighters and Egyptian indifference.

Every war has victims, some of us can still hear the screams and tears of millions down the ages. Others it seems use suffering to mask their own hatred. Peace would follow Hamas laying down their arms, or Iran changing its leadership or Egypt working with the UN to help non-combatants and eradicate Hamas.

It isn’t down to Israel or the West to modernise Islam.
