Asylum seekers, as they are known, should not be a problem. If someone is running from war, persecution or criminal they should always be given asylum. It is not beyond the wit of Europe to assign numbers biased upon the flow annually given we all know where the pressure points are (every woman in Afghanistan should be offered asylum as a right).
But what is so bad about economic migrants? America was built on them. Though I am guessing the indigenous populations of Europe would be horrified if they faced genocidal immigrants the way the nations did in the Americas. But we live by and for money so what exactly are we complaining about when people travel to make more money? That it isn’t us? That they don’t deserve it? That their work is inferior to our own? And how is it we cannot have any more people but the world can take an extra 2 billion by 2050?
We’re just hypocrites.
