When I was younger I thought there were three seasons: The long daylight and warm one, the leafy one where I could kick up leaves and the cold one. I guess that is why even today I tend to think of winter as being longer than most other people because it is still chilly in February and summer begins for me in March – spring and summer tend to melt a little into one.
Actually thought flowers start to appear here in January in the wild and in the polytunnel they never stop. So maybe there are just two seasons – colder and warmer – and flowers grow and nature develops all the time in her many colours. Though I do know in some countries in winter the grass dies back. It doesn’t here. It stops growing in the cold but it remains green all year round.
I am going to clear out the polytunnel and finials preparing the outdoor vegetable beds and simply enjoy the one season I have: life.
