Despite all the talk and philosophising society still seems to think that strength is powerfulness – military and physical – and weakness is the opposite. Principled behaviour based on empathy and a high regard for ethics is never military and never based on physical prowess. \that is why much of the time it is seen as weak and even worse as betrayal of the body-politic. Archbishop Tutu once famously suggested that anyone who thinks forgiveness’ is easy has never tried it,
To stand alone and watch a human race unable to bear the burden of immediate and continual ethical thinking is to be truly apart; and nothing takes more strength.
