Cultural Ethics

Posted on 15/12/2024 by Daniel

Recently we encountered a well know retired editor seeking $1000 from an artist to mention them in an article to be published in the New Art Examiner. Needless to say we will not be using him or his work. A New Zealand artist I was talking to in London was not even surprised she said that was standard practice in many magazines. When culturally sensitive organisation brazenly sell their stature for money, they damage the entire culture. When they make decisions about what to say based solely on being paid, they corrupt themselves and the art form they represent.  In so doing they add to and enrich the corruption of their counries.
