Only the rose

Posted on 12/06/2024 by Daniel

Cutting the grass to that smoother look which is still rough when I get close is far more loved by the birds and the dogs because they feel safer on  ground they can see ahead and I guess, they still worry about snakes in longer grass. It is hot work in this weather and cleaning the mower afterwards is never simple but it has to be done to extend the life of an very expensive  motor.

But sitting here seeing the single yellow rose standing in the sunlight with reddish buds beneath it, it does seem to look more beautiful in its mown surroundings. Surrounded by bushes of blueberry and honeyberry all casting their slowly moving shadows onto the lawn.

If only beauty didn’t take so much work.
