Alien Life

Posted on 10/07/2011 by admin

This is of course the stiff of fiction but fiction has a habit of intruding into real life at some point and we are searching. The first things we will find are microbes and whether we find them in this solar system or rushing around on a comet we don’t know, but the whole idea of finding life whilst being something I know will happen, worries me.

If we had astronauts in deep space and they met anything, before they ever told them where earth was they would want to know everything about the species. It’s a naturally secure thing to do. And any intelligent life we find would want to know the same about us. What will they discover? A species that looks for life but on its own planet has absolutely no respect for life at all, but gives itself rights to life and fights for its own existence but betrays everything else at the slightest whim?

I cannot be the only thinker in the world who would want to make absolutely sure such a species never got near my home planet, or knew I was around. I cannot be the only thinker who considers sending human beings into space without re-educating them would be the worst thing we could do.

I cannot be the only thinker who feels sorry for any life we find and what we will do to them.
